Yashica Mat Ground Glass

This is odd at first but you soon get used to it.

It was an impulsive bet on a single feature but i think it worked out. The bright round lens in the center of the ground glass viewing screen enables you to obtain a sharp focus and should be the center of the picture you are composing on the screen. I still don t think a piece of clear glass would work properly but i m no expert. The yashica mat 124 is the penultimate in a long line of medium format twin lens reflex tlr cameras produced by yashica and is clearly a copy of the esteemed rolleiflex tlr.

The chrome has worn off the yashica mat logo and the chrome plated yashica emblem is missing from the front of the case it was like that. That s why i didn t order one for my mat. The mat 124 and mat 124 g yashica 12 24 all accept bay 1 accessories such as those made for the rolleiflex. The yashica mat is a fashionable addition to any sidewalk cafe table and has many times more street cred than most hipsters.

The ground glass screen means that the image is reversed from left to right. Personally the orange grid of my mat is one of my favorite things. How the yashica mat 124g started as a rolleiflex copy but became great on its own duration. Description of yashica this is your yashicamat.

The viewfinder is a joy to look through but takes some getting used to. Schneider when i bought the yashica mat i was no stranger to yashica tlrs. The only things missing are a fedora and pack of gauloises. The yashica mat s original brown leather case is looking a little bit sad.
