Pick a color you like have the floors properly prepared for stain and then apply the stain. We want to have them re stained in white or gray but the floor guy told us we could not do that because the yellow color would show up between the boards and we would be able to see light yellow lines in our floors bc the lighter gray white stain wouldn t cover the honey color. As you can see from the photo above right the more porous springwood stains considerably darker than the dense latewood giving the boards a distinct zebra striped look. For spaces with good natural daylight the white oak can really help brighten and open up a space. The result is cool controlled modern and rather chic. Amazing patterns can be created on hardwood floors when you combine expert stenciling skills and in depth knowledge of stain applications.
Hi we have pre stained white oak floors in the honey color. Thankfully i found this thread as he was clueless on colors other than varieties of dark brown. If you want the color to be as dark as possible water pop the wood first. White oak is a beautiful neutral tone for an expansive floor surface and we tend to use it on ceilings to complement the flooring below.
We used 1 3 antique white 1 3 classic gray 1 3 weathered oak.
