Ripped Out Carpet On Stairs And Have Plywood Treads
Since we moved into our house we have wanted to remove the carpet from our stairs and paint them.
Ripped out carpet on stairs and have plywood treads. On your picture frames across the floor. My husband and i recently tore the carpet from our stairs and painted the wood underneath creating a fresh clean and modern look. We did this project over a full weekend and two additional weeks nights following. I ended up using one stair tread two red oak boards that were 12 or 14 inches wide and a smaller one that was 2 or 3 inches wide.
All this is done inside your house so just imagine where all the dust is going to go. I am on a tight budget and want to know if i can just sand these and paint them. 2 replacing treads middle road expensive harder than number 1. In my old house i had ripped out the carpet on the stairs also.
And also i am not sure what color to go with if i am able. 1 re treads most expensive but might be easier. It took about 30 minutes to rip up the plywood 30 minutes to paint the stair risers including setup and clean up about an hour to draw the lines and then another 30 minutes to nail the stairs and apply caulk. If you re going to do that measure the tread size cut the tread and then attach it.
It ended up being the perfect size when i was done and i didn t have to rip anything down. But it was rather square. I would guess around a three foot square. Currently we have a stair case that has 2 steps going up then a landing then a left turn to more stairs up to our loft.
This mama got bored last weekend and decided it was time to tackle a project that has been on my wish list to do list for a long long time. Well to be perfectly honest remove the carpet from our entire house. I need to rip out the unfortunately not so old carpet and do something different. In this video we re using a tread that already has a rounded front.
We ve had several schools of thought on what to do so far the options are no more carpet. If you prefer you can round over a piece of wood. Our main goal was to rip off the carpet see what wood was underneath and. This is our stairs before.
The other option is to replace the tread piece entirely with a hardwood border. Replacing stair treads starts with tearing out carpet then staples and then cutting the old bullnoses. Heck you will be finding it everywhere for the weeks to come. This would have been so nice to have done to them my new house will.
I cannot stress this enough. The carpet was old and dirty giving the entry a very dark and dated feel.
