Remove granite top from vanity. My next idea was to replace the top and faucet. Removing a glued down cultured marble countertop from a vanity. Cut caulk between backsplash and vanity with utility knife. In this first video i show my step by step process on how to remove your old granite countertops without having to break them.

Unexpectedly out of the box the granite is sealed to the wooden top of the unassembled vanity. Cultured marble countertops attach to a vanity with silicone or acrylic adhesive at the upper rim of the cabinet. I painted it with annie sloan chalk paint in graphite and sealed it with poly. It used to be an oak color typical of what you find in the store.

In most cases the vanity top is glued to the cabinet and you have to break the glue bond by inserting a putty knife between the cabinet and the vanity top and tapping it with a hammer. If the old vanity is marble or granite it will not be screwed on. Look underneath the vanity top for any fasteners holding it to the cabinet and remove these with a screwdriver. It included a low end granite top that is not properly sized for my bathroom.

I really like this vanity s wooden cabinets but i need to replace the granite with a custom cut size and color. Lift off the old vanity top. Start by cutting off water and disconnecting and removing old fixtures.
